Really? County employees have worked tirelessly to process people as fast as they can. This past Friday night many of them worked until after 10:00 PM so everyone would be served. Why in the world would an employee deliberately slow down so they could stay half the night servicing irate taxpayers?

The State tells Jefferson County to do without a stable revenue source, and then passes an imigration law that requires technology changes to the online payment system that the county cannot make quickly because the IT Staff was gutted by the layoffs in June.

But here’s a novel idea, mail in your renewal with a copy of your Driver’s license and if you co-own the vehicle, a copy of the co-owner’s license. You won’t stand in any line.

And if you wait until the last minute and have to go stand in line, don’t forget to thank Scott Beason for blocking a vote on the Occupational Tax, that if enacted would have saved the jobs of the county employees needed to process your tag renewals.

Oh, and when you can no longer afford tomatoes or peaches, you can thank him for that too.
