LITTLE ROCK — Five airports in eastern Arkansas will receive just over $1 million in funding from the Federal Aviation Administration for safety improvements, U.S. Rep. Rick Crawford, R-Jonesboro, announced today.

“It is critical that Arkansas airports meet federal safety standards,” Crawford said.

The airports and their funding are:
—Carlisle Municipal Airport, $218,669 for runway pavement improvements.
—Lee County-Steve Edwards Field in Marianna, $319,539 for installation of a new runway guidance system and for a perimeter fence.
—Osceola Municipal Airport, $237,932 to bring a runway safety area up to necessary standards.
—Corning Municipal Airport, $166,351 to improve the pavement structure of the airport’s taxiway.
— Manila Municipal Airport, $74,100 for a guidance system to allow pilots easier access for landing.
