HONOLULU — The union that represented most of the Transportation Security Administration employees at Honolulu airport who were disciplined for improper screening plans to appeal.

The American Federation of Government Employees says the union plans to appeal all 32 cases of the 48 involved.

The TSA announced last week the agency fired or suspended dozens of employees for improper screening of checked bags.

Union attorney David Borer tells the Honolulu Star-Advertiser (http://bit.ly/pFTcQB) it won reductions in the severity of discipline for six to eight officers by reducing a firing to a suspension or reducing the length of suspension.

Borer says the TSA is targeting those who were taking orders from top officials who were fired or moved. He says they faced pressure from airlines and management to move bags faster.
