Work to safeguard a bridge over the Missouri River between Iowa
and Nebraska is complete.

But, the Iowa Department of Transportation says the link between
Monona County, Iowa, and Decatur won’t reopen until an inspection
confirms the safety of the bridge. No timetable has been set for
the inspection, and the department says current river conditions
are too high and too fast to allow the work.

The bridge was closed June 27 as the swollen Missouri River
eroded the bank. A berm has been constructed to prevent further
erosion.
