ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Police officers around New Mexico will be cracking down on drunk drivers over the St. Patrick’s holiday weekend.

Police are planning to be out in force Saturday night in downtown Albuquerque. Undercover officers as well as members of the department’s gang unit will be helping out.

Martinez says anyone who gets behind the wheel after drinking will face the full force of the law.

Roadblocks and saturation patrols are planned around the city.

State police officers will also be out across New Mexico as part of the mini-superblitz effort announced earlier this week by Gov. Susana Martinez. The effort includes an increase in law enforcement and an anti-DWI ad campaign.

Martinez says anyone who gets behind the wheel after drinking will face the full force of the law.

The governor also criticized lawmakers for failing to approve legislation during the recent session that would have cracked down on repeat DWI offenders.
